Sleepless in…

Ahaha. You guessed it. Eh. Ano ba yun.

Anyway. Seattle is Baguio with a big lake in the middle. Conifers, houses with half a landing and wooden shingled walls, parking on inclines. Seattle is beautiful. I bought a t-shirt for JJ at the company store. It has ones and zeros and is geeky but cute.

Things I like about being in the US (for the first time):

  • Being able to watch TV shows in real time. I love you Jon Stewart (even though you should have known Tony Balir wouldn’t be able to take jokes).
  • Being understood when I talk English.
  • Saying hello to everyone and getting a hello back.

It’s really not as scary as I thought it was. Probably because this is the north-west and there is still enough green to remember what the world was like before we fucked things over. Mount Ranier from a distance is amazing.

Things I think are hilarious about the US:

  • All these ads for testosterone, debt relief, car insurance, drugs (where the spiel about “side effects” takes about 20 more seconds than the actual commercial script).
  • The Southern twang.
  • Fast food chains too many to count.

You know what I noticed. I love those new “I’m a PC” commercials. I think they’re cute. But then I think it’s just because I tend to develop excessive loyalty to wherever I am. Probably unhealthy but still. I want to do so many things. (I’m a little drunk, too, so you know where this is coming from; Auntie Jo let me take home half a bottle of this fantastic Rose last night).

JJ flew over last weekend. He lost so much weight that it’s practically giving me an eating disorder. But he’s doing great, and I’m doing great, and we’re going to move things around so we don’t have to fly every three months or so to be together. We’ll sort that out.
